The “VQ Sunday Workshop” was a series of activities organised by Li and the chief designers of the VQ magazine. One of the activities was to create a poster series on the theme of “The Nine Sins” – gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy, bad temper, lies, murder and lust – using rubbish. The rubbish on the posters creates a dirty, repulsive visual shock, and leaves the viewer with an indelible impression which intensies the concept of “sin” and the controversial, satirical nature of the theme.
Twenty years later, Li worked with Li Chi Tak, Ringo Tang and XCEPT to create a series of sizable woodcut prints on the same theme, retitled New 9 Sins for this exhibition. Li also invited Ringo and seven more friends – Anthony Wong, MC Yan, Keith Lam, Peter Wong, Vincent Tsui, Abby Lai and Andy Tam – to be subjects of the photos. Played up with AR (Augmented Reality) effects and random illustrations, the pictures have an odd appeal. Visitors to the exhibition can enjoy the immersive and illusionistic effects of New 9 Sins using a customised app.
李永銓曾與《VQ》原創性視覺海報雜誌的主力設計師合作舉辦「VQ周日工作坊」，其中一節活動是一起利用垃圾拼構成以九宗罪為題的海報系列，包括「貪饕」、「貪財」、「懶惰」、「忿怒」、「嫉妒」、「脾氣」、「說謊」、「殺害」和「迷色」。海報上的垃圾營造了骯髒、卑劣的視覺震撼，令人印象深刻，加強了「罪」的本質，使主題更具爭議性和諷刺性。
二十年後，李永銓與利志達、鄧鉅榮和XCEPT以同一主題合創這一系列的《新九宗罪》大型木刻版畫。李永銓特別邀請了黃秋生、MC仁、林欣傑、黃源順、徐緣、黎睿紋、譚明和鄧鉅榮八位好友一同參與拍攝，成為主角，配合非理性的插圖，並混合擴增實境效果，增強趣味。觀眾可利用特製的手機應用程式，感受《新九宗罪》的立體視覺震撼。

When everything contradicts each other and becomes no longer revealed in a matter-of-fact way ── a prickly stool filled with triangular cones, a creepy banana covered with octopus’s suckers, and scrapping the skin till bleeding with the hard-tooth comb like pins and needles. Or have you ever imagined that it’s not hot air blowing from a hairdryer but a cluster of wire-like fiber? Solidify sound wave from a radio and light beam are luminous soap bubbles? A successful poster design should have the ability to evoke emotions, triggering the deepest emotions of the audience.

Chinese Typography in 24 moments

Chinese Passport
The posters are created for “GDC15 Chinese Typography in 24 moments” exhibition. To praise the PRC government making more visa-waiver agreements with other countries for the Chinese residents, Tommy used his black humour to specially design a set of two Chinese passports for both PRC and HKSAR citizens. To preserve the Chinese nostalgia, regular script is used, while the small statement ─ “This passport is valid for the cosmos and is never expired”, on the HKSAR one uses traditional Chinese characters to reinforce the constitutional principle “One country, two systems”.

The shaping of a person’s character is based on his/her recurring behavior, which is molded by his/her habits. In other words, one’s habits grow in time and eventually shape one’s character, and it is not done in one day. I have lived for half a century. Naturally my habits extended in time and formed who I am now. In my eyes, there are no good or bad characters, and I am not reflecting upon myself at my middle age. As one’s character keeps extending in time, I could understand certain discrepancies do exist in the way of thinking between me and those designers who are 20 or even 30 years younger or older than I am. Therefore, in order to catch up with the world’s changes, I have to be more open-minded and more devoted, otherwise, “there will be no way out” as Premier Wen Jiabao said. That openness does not only refer to a person’s character, but also to every aspect in the world, from a company to a country. It should welcome diversified views and facilitate different styles of working and thinking. When there are different voices, we need to have a big heart to embrace and efforts to study them, otherwise our life will become dull and boring. Whether our GDP may have reached almost 39000 billions or our level of prosperity may have already exceeded Japan and reached close to the United States, our happiness in life is still far more momentous than these figures.

性格的形塑是基於一種不斷重覆的行為，行為出現慣性，慣性不斷延伸，就成為性格，性格不是一朝一夕能定形的。我活了半個世紀，理所當然受這種不斷延伸的慣性所影響，而建立我今日這種性格。性格沒有好與壞，我也不是到了中年才自我反省。由於性格不斷延伸，跟我相差20年甚至是30年的設計師，思維模式總會有一些差距，所以我只可以更開放、更投入，才能明白世界的變化及轉向，否則就一如溫家寶的說法—只會死路一條。這種開放不單是針對個人性格，放之四海皆為首，由一間公司以至一個國家，應當廣納民意，令百花齊放。不同的聲音需要包容和研究，否則人生就會變得黯淡，無論GDP已經接近39萬億或是我們可能已經超日趕美，人生的幸福比起這些數字都更為重要。
